Audi is about to launch the all new A4 2010 allroad quattro at the Geneva auto show next month, but here's a sneak preview of the ready to go wagon.
The new allroad quattro is based on Audi's new A4 wagon and features more rugged looks, a higher ground clearance, redesigned front fascia, stainless steel under body guards, plus a host of new technology. The car will be on sale in Europe this summer for an estimated price of 37,000 Euros.
The development of the A6 version of the new allroad quattro has been put on hold.
It remains unclear if and when the car will be sold in the U.S.
The new car is very similar to the current Audi A4 Avant as it also comes with a choice of new technology including Audi’s drive select intelligent handling technology, a dual-clutch S
tronic transmission, and a new communication and assistance systems.
According to MotorAuthority.com in Europe the car will come with a choice of three engines:
"- The base unit is the 2.0L TFSI, which outputs 211hp (155kW) and
258lb-ft (350Nm) and is good for a 0-62mph (100km/h) run in just 6.9
seconds and a top speed of 143mph (230km/h). Fuel consumption is rated
at 29mpg (8.1L/100km).
– Next up is the 2.0L TDI diesel, which comes with
170hp (125kW) and 258lb-ft (350Nm) of torque and will do the 0-62mph
(100km/h) sprint in 8.9 seconds and a top speed of 132mph (213km/h).
Fuel consumption is rated at 38mpg (6.4L/100km).
– Rounding out the range
is a 3.0L TDI V6 with 240hp (176kW) and 369lb-ft (500Nm) of torque and
is good for a 0-62mph (100km/h) run in 6.4 seconds and a top speed of
147mph (236km/h). Fuel consumption is rated at 33mpg (7.1L/100km).
Standard features include 17in alloy wheels, roof rails, an automatic
climate-control system, an electromechanical handbrake, and Audi’s MMI
interface. Optional goodies include a two-part panoramic glass roof, an
electromechanical tailgate, a three-zone climate-control system, xenon
headlights, 18in alloys, and a Bang & Olufsen sound system with 14
speakers."
Audi's own press release describes the cars looks and features as "Viewed from the side, the vehicle
dazzles with flared wheel arches, angular sills (available with
stainless-steel insert strips), and large wheels – 17-inch wheels in
7-arm design are standard.
The roof is capped off by an offset rail
with two high crosspieces. The width of the A4 allroad quattro is
emphasized by the rear bumper's distinctive styling and the integrated
horizontal reflectors. On the 2.0 TDI, the two exhaust tailpipes appear
side by side; on the 2.0 TFSI and 3.0 TDI, they terminate to the left
and to the right."
