Now that the U.S. Senate has passed the cash for clunkers program, it is just a matter of time before President Obama signs the bill into law.

When
Obama signs the legislation new car buyers will be eligible for up to a
$4,500 cash voucher from the federal government to purchase a more fuel
efficient car. The only catch—new car buyers will have to scrap a car
that gets less than 18 miles per gallon for a new car getting at least
22 miles per gallon.

So what cars qualify?

A good place to start the search would be at www.fueleconomy.gov.

This
is the official United States Department of Energy web site that tracks
and post the government fuel mileage numbers for all the cars sold in
the U.S.

To see the U.S. government mileage rating for all cars sold in the U.S. between the years 1985 to 2010 just click HERE or visit www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/findacar.htm
