Cash for clunkers will continue—at least through the weekend

Cashclunkers

As reported here recently the cash for clunkers program has not been suspended and will continue to run throughout the weekend…at least.

The most recent and complete list of cash for clunkers qualifying cars is HERE.

"The
program will be in place" for anyone who had been planning to make a
car purchase this weekend, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs told CNN. "This program appears to be a success for car buyers, car dealers, car companies and taxpayers."

"I
am delighted to hear dealers say that all of their salespeople are busy
and they are selling more cars in a day than they had been selling in a
month," Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich said.

The program according
to Stabenow has been a huge success with dealerships selling over
200,000 cars across the nation under the cash for clunkers incentive in
just one week.

The Michigan congresswomen is working on a plan that would extend the bill by another two billion dollars.

the
Cash for Clunkers law, which Congress passed in June, is set to end at
the end of September or whenever its $1 billion budget has been
depleted….which appears to be now.
