Ford CEO Alan Mulally keynotes the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas 2010 with Sync demo

The Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas 2010 opened on decisively automotive theme as Ford CEO Alan Mulally touted the new and improved Ford and Microsoft Sync system.

"Last year I said that we would have one million Sync equipped cars by
the start of 2010. I am proud to announce that we hit that goal in May
of 2009," Mulally said in his Keynote address in Las Vegas at the 2010 CES show.

Mulally went on to say that that 81% of heavy Ford Sync users are satisfied and 77% would recommend it to a friend. 

Mulally was followed on stage by a host of Ford engineers who announced
the new capabilities, partnerships and awards that Ford has forged and
earned with its in-car technology Sync inter-phase.

These include:

– A new partnering with Mapquest, which will function through Sync.

– The ability for Sync users to tag their favorite music tunes in Sync.

– The ability of Sync to tap into local Wi-Fihot spots.

– Twitter coming to Sync.

– Sync smart phone App integration with the most popular app platforms including Apple, Blackberry and Android

– Ford's 2010 Taurus wins Edmunds.com's first ever Technology Breakthrough Award.
