Video: Mexico doesn’t find being called lazy, feckless, flatulent and overweight funny and demands apology from Top Gear

Top-gear-host To be fair Richard Hammomd of the hit BBC car Show Top Gear didn’t directly call all Mexicans lazy, feckless, flatulent and overweight, but he did imply it on the show by saying, “Mexican cars are just going to be lazy, feckless, flatulent, overweight, leaning against a fence asleep looking at a cactus with a blanket with a hole in the middle on as a coat.”

Mexico’s ambassador to the UK wasn’t amused and didn’t find the comment (or is it joke) to be funny.

Ambassador Eduardo Medina Mora Icaza said that the show, which aired on January 30th in Britain, “resorted to outrageous, vulgar and inexcusable insults to stir bigoted feelings against the Mexican people.”

He went on to demand an apology in formal letter to the BBC in which he wrote, “These offensive, xenophobic and humiliating remarks only serve to reinforce negative stereotypes and perpetuate prejudice against Mexico and its people.”

You can watch the Top Gear presenters below for yourself as they make the offending comments. What do you think? Did Top Gear cross the line or were they just pushing the limits of taste? Please let us know in the comments below.
