As you may recall from THIS story, the boys of BBC’s worldwide hit car show Top Gear ruffled some feathers when they said on their show last week, “Mexican cars are just going to be lazy, feckless, flatulent, overweight, leaning against a fence asleep looking at a cactus with a blanket with a hole in the middle on as a coat”

Mexican Ambassador Eduardo Medina Mora Icaza wasn’t amused, and wrote to the BBC demanding an apology saying, “These offensive, xenophobic and humiliating remarks only serve to reinforce negative stereotypes and perpetuate prejudice against Mexico and its people.”

Today he got an apology…sort of…when the BBC issued this statement:

Our own comedians make jokes about the British being terrible cooks and terrible romantics, and we in turn make jokes about the Italians being disorganized and over dramatic; the French being arrogant and the Germans being over organized. We are sorry if we have offended some people, but jokes centered on national stereotyping are a part of ‘Top Gear’s’ humor.”

So did Top Gear cross the line? Watch the video below for yourself and decide.
