2012 Cadillac CTS gets unextreme makeover but more power

If this were cable television we’d call this Cadillac’s unextreme makeover edition of the CTS.

Today Cadillac announced that the 2012 CTS will get…wait for it….an “upgraded grille.”

OK, so while this may not be the biggest news of the day, the 2012 CTS will also be blessed with an upgraded 3.6-liter V6 that gets 318 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque…that’s is course compared to the current car’s power-plant that develops 304 horses and 273 lb-ft of torque.

The 2012 car’s engine is also just over 20 pounds lighter, and that should help  fuel efficiency…GM is saying an EPA-estimated 18 city/27 highway.

There’s larger 19-inch wheels on the touring edition and a new dark Sapele wood interior trim plus Bluetooth connectivity for all models.

Of course that’s all well and good but we still prefer…in fact much prefer…the CTS-V supercharged Sport Wagon that we tested last week in the TFLcar road trip video review below.
