Roman Mica (TFLCar’s lord-master) is a bit too sophisticated to slum it with me when I fire-up the DVD, pull out the pork rinds, load up the beer and watch campy horror movies. With that said, he digs a good car movie as much as the next guy. Here’s my take on the top five.

5) Jeepers Creepers

2001 – A proper horror movie.

Jeepers Creepers is a disturbing flick with one of the most unique antagonists I’ve seen in recent films. I love the hopped-up, wicked looking 1941 Chevrolet COE (it looks like an REO panel van too). It’s fast enough to catch up to AND smash into cars unfortunate enough cross its path. The horn sounds like a banshee’s cry. It’s awesome.

The driver is a flying (yes, flying) redneck that loves to munch on people. Imagine Rosie O’Donnell without makeup or a handler and you’re on the right track. Or, think of the song, “Jeepers Creepers,” considering its lyrics about body parts – you’ll see why they used the little ditty as the title.

The license plate on the antagonist’s truck reads BEATNGU. No – it’s not “beating-you” it’s “be-eating-you.” That pretty much sums up the baddie in this film.

Jeepers Creepers is highly recommended for sick and twisted film buffs.

Cool fact: The antagonist was inspired by the “New Jersey Devil” legend. No, not the NHL Hockey Team… although…
