Video review: Does the new 2012 VW Passat TDI make diesel sedans cool again?

IMG_3041

Once upon a time in America diesel sedans were loud, dirty and slow. Many American diesel car buyers hated the slow to start and slow to sell car so much that most car manufacturers gave up on the idea of selling an American family sedan powered by diesel instead of petroleum.

Volkswagen wants to change that with the new German designed but American built Passat TDI.

With an EPA rating of 30 MPG in the City and 40 MPG on the Highway, the new Passat TDI certainly gets some of the best mileage in it’s class.

But is the price you pay for that exceptional MPG a diesel car that dirty, loud and slow?
