The 2014 Audi RS7 Quattro debuted in a unique way for the world’s press. Audi’s press conference immediately followed that of rival BMW, which happened mere feet away at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show.  Audi was not to be outdone the brand new BMW M6 Grand Coupe that made its debut.  Journalists were left wondering where the latest Audi automobile will appear from as there seemingly was no door way at the back of the Audi stage.  Only a large white cloth lay on the stage floor.

Perhaps the next Audi would just appear in that spot?

This is actually what happened:  While the jam-packed hall full of journalists were misdirected by a group of sexy ladies in black, the white cloth was lifted by a couple of guys and the brand new Audi RS7 Quattro came into view. No kidding, the Audi RS7 Quattro simply materialized with a slight of hand!

This ultra high performance ride utilizes Audi’s latest twin turbo 4.0 liter V8 which produces 560 horsepower (lbs-feet of torque) in this application.  Of course, this massive power goes to all four wheels via the trademark Quattro all wheel drive system. A tiptronic eight-speed transmission, with paddle shifters, is standard.

Capable of 0 to 62 mph in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 189 mph (after the 155 mph governor is lifted) – this Audi isn’t what you would call slow. As a matter of fact, those numbers pit it directly against a similarly equipped Porsche Panamera. I suppose its good to have family competitiveness (Porsche and Audi are related) to keep the automakers on their toes.
