Volvo Reveals The Newly Redesigned 2014 Volvo S60

Volvo S60

Volvo has unveiled the 2014 Volvo S60 which has been remade inside and out with a focus on quality and comfort. This is part of the most extensive redesign of an existing line in the company’s history and demonstrates their commitment to listening to customers and making their vehicles more attractive and comfortable with greater attention to detail.

The 2014 Volvo S60 interior features more luxurious materials like wood and leather and the controls have been simplified for a less cluttered, more relaxing driving experience. Volvo’s already comfortable seats are now available in a sport seat that hugs the driver and provides greater support during tight cornering. Additional upgrades include new upholstery colors, wood inlays and a new headliner.

Myriad small changes add to the car’s more streamlined appearance. The washer nozzles have been relocated out of sight beneath the hood and they’ve removed chrome trim from the front grille while adding a bigger badge. Even the rear tailpipes have been modified with a more integrated design.

They’re also offering the 2014 Volvo S60 with a choice of four chassis types of either Touring, Dynamic, Four-C (Continuously Controlled Chassis Concept) or Lower Sport Chassis. This allows each driver to create their own personal perfect experience behind the wheel.

The 2014 Volvo S60 also features improved fuel consumption, optional paddle shifters and an Adaptive Digital Display that offers three different graphic themes. Again, customizing the driving experience through attention to detail is the focus.

The European market has a wide array of engine choices. You can get a 4- or 5- cylinder turbo gas engine in either manual or automatic transmissions and a 6-cylinder in automatic only. In diesel, you get 4- or 5-cylinder turbo variants that are both available with either a manual or automatic transmission.  It’s still not known what powertrain updates the S60 will get for North America, if any.

New Active High Beam control means no more switching from high to low beams every time another vehicle approaches. Instead, the beams are always on high and automatically adjust via a projector module mechanism that is part of the headlamp. Backing up this technology is Cornering Lighting which lights the area the driver is steering towards making it safer and easier for the driver.

Additional safety features include a blind spot information system, cross traffic alert and pedestrian detection which, when combined with the updates to style and comfort, make the 2014 Volvo S60 a vehicle that drivers are going to love.
