The engineering and design teams at Ford have created an exclusive  2014 Mustang GT “U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Edition,” which will be auctioned for charity at the Gathering of Eagles event on August 1, 2013.

The proceeds of the sale will go to benefit the EAA Young Eagles organization. The EAA Young Eagles program has provided free introductory flights to more than 1.6-million young people since 1992, helping inspire and motivate the next generation of leaders, aviators, and innovators.

This unique Mustang has been painted white with red and blue accents that tie it to the Thunderbirds’ F-16 Falcon.  TS Designs handcrafted the front and rear wide body elements, Creations n’ Chrome crafted the specialized “belly pan” emulating the one on the F-16 Thunderbird and applied the paint and markings.  The landing gear for this vehicle will be custom 22-inch Forgiato wheels.

On the inside,  a modified navigation screen, instrument cluster, and rear-seat delete while the car’s Recaro seats have been embroidered with Thunderbirds elements. Unique sill plates and puddle lamps that project the aircraft’s silhouette finish off the interior modifications.

To ensure a speedy takeoff, performance modifications include a Ford Racing supercharger, suspension handling pack, and Brembo brakes. Ford didn’t release the specifications on this special edition but Ford Racing’s  website lists a series of superchargers that boost the 5.0-liter engine to  between 525 and 624 horsepower.

This one-of-a-kind Thunderbird Edition Mustang will boast a VIN of 0001 and commemorate the 60th anniversary of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds.

Have a happy 4th of July!  Enjoy this TFLcar Mustang Mashup!
