The 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage will be one of the cheaper prices available for a vehicle on sale in the United States when it goes on sale this fall. Starting with an MSRP of $12,995, you can get a 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage with a 74 horsepower, 1.2-liter inline-three cylinder that makes 74 lbs-feet of torque. This makes it one of the cheapest AND weakest vehicles for sale on our shores.

Fortunately, it’s light, super frugal and looks like fun to drive!

“Featuring a plethora of welcome standard amenities, the $12,995 MSRP starting price for the 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage DE model includes automatic climate control, keyless entry with panic alarm, sporty-looking rear spoiler, upscale piano black center console trim, auto-off halogen headlights, rear heater floor ducts, plus much more.

For only $1,200 more, the 2014 Mirage ES model includes all of the standard features from the DE trim level while adding FAST (Free-hand Advanced Security Transmitter)-key passive entry, One-Touch Start/Stop (OSS) engine switch, Bluetooth© hands-free phone system, steering wheel-mounted cruise and audio controls, 14-inch alloy wheels, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, fog lamps, silver interior accent trim, and other features. The 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage will be the most efficient, non-hybrid vehicles for sale in the United States. It has an EPA rating of 37 mpg city, 44 mpg highway and 40 mpg combined if it’s equipped with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The 5-speed manual transmission gets an EPA rating of 34 mpg city, 42 mpg highway and 37 mpg combined. The manual transmission version of the 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage is the cheapest base model.

“Major contributors to the new Mirage’s outstanding fuel efficiency are its exceptionally clean exterior with its very low 0.28 drag coefficient, an engine equipped with the latest version of Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control (MIVEC) variable valve-timing system, and Electric Power Steering (EPS) that does away with fuel-burning parasitic drag on the engine from a conventional hydraulic-based power steering.

Every 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage is equipped with a comprehensive list of advanced safety features including a seven (7) air bag Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), Active Stability Control (ASC) with Traction Control Logic (TCL), Mitsubishi Motors’ patented Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) impact-absorbing safety cell technology, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and convenient Hill Start Assist (HSA included on CVT-equipped models).” – – Mitsubishi Motors North America Media

Sad to say, but this might be the best looking Mitsubishi interior seen this year.
Sad to say, but this might be the best looking Mitsubishi interior seen this year.

I look forward to testing the 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage in every trim with every drive-line. Why? I have always admired Mitsubishi for their clever engineering and well built vehicles. I like what I’ve seen and driven around the world.

Sure, they have been running on empty on these shores, but perhaps the little Mirage will get them back in the game.
