Frankfurt Auto Show: The 2015 Audi A3 Cabriolet Makes Its Debut

Audi A3 Cabriolet

The 2015 Audi A3 Cabriolet made its debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show with new features, new technology, and a weight reduction despite being a bit larger than its predecessor which was introduced in 2008 in Europe. There are also changes to the front end design to update its look.

Coming in at just above 3000 pounds, the 2015 Audi A3 Cabriolet lost 110 pounds as its overall dimensions grew. The car’s length increased from 166.9 inches to 174 inches and the wheelbase went up from 101.5 inches to 102.4 inches. Even the width grew from 69.7 inches to 70.4 inches making it a slightly larger vehicle than before on every front, except for its height. It’s a bit shorter, making the wider, longer stance just that much more aggressive.

The front end shows off Audi’s Singleframe hexagonal grille with tapered headlights that are echoed by the taillights in the rear. There will also be available full-LED headlights.

Europe will get three trim levels with the Attraction, Ambition and Ambiente. Those seeking the sportiest look possible will want the Ambition which has an available S line sport package that includes an all black interior.

Inside there will be a power-retractable 7″ flatscreen with a center console that houses an MMI controller that senses character input by just your fingertips on the top of the knob, just like in the Audi A8. There’s also LTE hotspot availability and a Bang & Olufsen sound system.

The base engine will be a 140 HP 1.4-liter gas turbo with an available 180 HP 1.8-liter TFSI. There will also be a 163 HP 2.0-liter TDI turbodiesel engine. And for those who want even more, you can get a 300 HP 2.0-liter I-4 that will take your Audi 0-60 in just 5.4 seconds.
