The 2014 BMW M235i was rolled out alongside the BMW M3 and BMW M4 at the 2014 NAIAS. All three vehicles benefited from a convoluted pre-unveiling skit that had a race crew and umbrella girls chanting a pre-race cheer. They up and vanished with no explanation as to what they were doing before the press event got rolling.

At least the cars were cool.

At $43,100, the BMW M235i is loaded with a 322 horespower, turbocharged straight six-cylinder engine that makes 332 lbs-feet of torque. According to BMW, it can go 0 to 62 miles per hour in 4.8 seconds (with the eight-speed automatic). A six speed manual is available too.

The BMW M3 and M4 were featured too; however, they were not featured as the star of the event like the BMW M235i.

The 2014 BMW M235i is a direct replacement for the 1-Series and has larger proportions. It looks very small next to the BMW M4, but not as compact-looking as the 1-Series did. It looks like it’s begging to be driven.

In this video, BMW brings out the M3 and M4, but the real story is the BMW M235i.
