Travis Pastrana Returns To Subaru Rally Team USA

Pastrana

Travis Pastrana is back with Subaru Rally Team USA after his 2010 departure to pursue other racing avenues. Pastrana had originally partnered with Subaru for eleven years starting back in 2004. He then won four Rally America National Championships in a row from 2006 to 2010.

He walked away from Subaru after that string of wins to play around with other kinds of racing, including a stint with NASCAR and several years of doing Global Rallycross with Dodge. Now he’s returned to Subaru to take part in the 2014 Rally America Championship.

The series kicks off later this month in Atlanta, Michigan, but Pastrana won’t be taking part until the second round of the series. His return will happen at the Rally in the 100 Acre Wood which is being held in Salem, MO from February 21st-22nd. Pastrana will also be competing in Global RallyCross at X Games from June 6th-7th.

As for what Pastrana will be driving, both Pastrana and teammate David Higgins will be behind the wheel of a 2014 Subaru WRX STI this season. The vehicles feature symmetrical all-wheel drive and are being managed by Vermont SportsCar. They also manage cars for Subaru’s Global RallyCross Championship efforts.

Higgins and his co-driver Craig Drew won their third Rally America title last year after a season-long battle with Ford to give Subaru of America the manufacturer’s title. They’ll be making their season debut at the Sno*Drift Rally in Atlanta, Michigan. This is the first round of the Rally America Championship and will be held from January 24th-25th.

Although both drivers will be in the 2014 Subaru WRX STI, the new 2015 Subaru WRX STI has just made it’s debut at the Detroit Auto Show this week. The people at Vermont SportsCar are currently working on development of that vehicle and expect to have it ready to go sometime later on this year.

She considers things a bit more carefully now, but still has a weakness for fast, beautiful cars. Nicole also writes for NerdApproved and GeekMom.
