2015 Ford Mustang gets back into Empire State elevator to Celebrate 50th

Ford accomplished this feat with the original Mustang nearly 50 years prior.  Now, the 2015 model is going up to the historic 86th floor observatory via elevator.    That’s right, the car must be dismantled, cut into pieces, brought up by elevator, and reassembled at the top.  Helicopter delivery of the car is out of the question due to the narrow observation deck and the spire of the Empire State Building.

Ford’s technical team took careful measurements of the new elevators and are ready for the project.  The tricky part is that they only have six hours to reassemble the car once the racks of parts are delivered to the deck.  Visitors to the Empire State Building observation deck can see the new Mustang convertible for 54 hours from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m., April 16-17.
