The 2014 Audi SQ5 Quattro is a supercharged family hauling mid-sized crossover that will put a big smile on your face when you tap into the car’s 354 horsepower.

But it’s not a true classic sleeper car, and it certainly won’t dust a new or even old Corvette at the traffic light. Sure, most buyers of this car won’t go Chevy Corvette  hunting on the weekends but they are buying it over the diesel and non S versions of the Audi Q5 for the extra power and torque.

If you are a fan of Audi, the silver outside rear view mirrors and four exhaust pipes certainly let Audi drivers know that you’ve got the big boy 3.0L under the hood.  So beware of this family hauler as it can bite.

Inside the  2014 Audi SQ5 Quattro is all business. A elegant and properly fat flat-bottomed leather-wrapped steering wheel meets your grip like a fine and expensive Hermes glove. The controls click and clack with German authority. Audi’s MMI system is still too clunky and wanky while the control screen is too small.

The new 8-speed Tiptronic transmission makes sure that when you are not carving canyons the uber Audi Q5 gets a respectable but never-the-less questionable 19 MPH combined.

When you reach for the the supercharged 3.0L you won’t be overwhelmed but you won’t be disappointing either.  Considering the 2014 Audi SQ5 has the same engine in the Audi S5, we were curious to see which one of the two cars is faster.

After testing the car from 0-60 MPH…the results are indeed surprising.  Look for that video coming soon to TFLcar YouTube Channel near you.
