Ford Recalls Issued For Over 434,000 Vehicles

2014 Ford Escape

Ford recalls have been issued for roughly 434,000 vehicles in two separate recalls announced today.

The vehicle affected in the first recall is the Ford Escape for model years 2001 through 2004. The problem occurs when rust causes a separation of the lower control arm from the SUVs subframe. If this occurs, then steering is compromised. This recall covers 385,750 vehicles. The problem will be fixed by the installation of a reinforcing cross brace to add extra strength to the frame.

The second recall affects several vehicles and is due to welds in the seatbacks not meeting National Highways Traffic Safety Administration standards. This covers 48,950 Ford Fusion, Escape, C-MAX and Lincoln MKZ models from 2013 through 2014. The defective welds join the seatback to the recliner and pose an injury risk during certain types of collisions. Dealers will fix this issue by completely replacing the seatback frames.
