2015 MINI Hardtop Gets a First-Ever 4-Door Variant

2015 Mini Hardtop 4-Door

Hot on the heels of the new 2014 MINI Hardtop 2-door, the company has announced there will be a 2015 MINI Hardtop 4-door to offer greater utility for customers. This new variant will come in at $1,000 more than the 2-door version.

They’ve changed the proportions of the vehicle on all fronts to accommodate the new 4-door design including a wheelbase larger by 2.9 inches and a body longer by 6.3 inches. The three rear seats, get .6 inches of additional headroom while the interior width is up by 1.8 inches at the shoulder. Even the luggage compartment grows, providing an extra 0.5 cubic feet of space for cargo.

There will be two MINI TwinPower Turbo engine variants in the 2014 MINI Hardtop 4-door with a choice of either a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder with 134 bhp and 162 lb-ft of torque or a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with 189 bhp and 207 lb-ft of torque for the MINI Cooper S. A choice of either the standard manual or optional automatic transmission will be available on either engine.

That 3-cylinder engine will move you from zero to 60 mph in 7.6 seconds (7.7 seconds automatic) with a top speed of 129 mph. The 4-cylinder ups the ante with a time of 6.6 seconds (6.5 seconds automatic) and a top speed of 145 mph.

Expect to see this new MINI in dealer showrooms in January of 2015.
