2015 Subaru WRX STI Sets Isle Of Man Lap Record

Subaru WRX STI

Mark Higgins has set a new Isle of Man lap record in a 2015 Subaru WRX STI. He completed the 37-mile Isle of Man TT Road Course with an average lap speed of 116.470 and a time of 19.26. This beat the old record of 115.36 also set by Higgins while driving a 2010 Subaru WRX STI.

Higgins set the new record in a stock U.S.-spec 2015 WRX STI, with a few key changes. The speed limiter was removed and an FIA-spec roll-cage, racing seat and harness, fire suppression system and modified springs and dampers to handle the sustained high speeds and course conditions were added. This 2015 Subaru WRX STI also had Dunlop Derezza tires and a high decibel straight exhaust in the interest of crowd safety.

Despite having just set a new record, this might not be the end of this particular run for Higgins and the 2015 Subaru WRX STI. According to Dominick Infante, National Manager of Product Communication, “The Isle of Man really shows the improvements we have made to the new WRX STI in terms of chassis and steering. We are evaluating whether to make another run on Friday and top this record.”
