Original Mazda Miata MX-5 prototype in the wild

You know the Mazda Miata MX-5 as one of the most fun and affordable sporty roadsters in history. However, many people do not know the story of how the original Mazda Miata came to be. Did you know that it took several years just to get to the unique prototype?  Did you know that the RX-7 played a part in the early concepts?

The idea behind the Miata was to build a simple sports car, which embodies the “less is more” mentality. The MX-5 is now entering its fourth generation with the 2016 model. And the thinking has not changed. The next car (codename ND) reduces weight, gets more sleek, and is focused on efficiency with Mazda’s latest SkyActiv methodologies.

Join Roman Mica, as he speaks with – Bob Hall – one of the fathers of the MX-5.
