Despite having a rough Formula 1 season, four-time World Champion Sebastian Vettel has a lot to offer Ferrari. Vettel just announced that, at the end of this season, he will join Scuderia Ferrari. Ferrari’s main driver, Fernando Alonso is (strongly) rumored to be heading to McLaren.

These moves represent one of the largest paradigm shifts in Formula 1 history.

“It is a tough step after such a long time together with Red Bull,” said the 27-year-old. “After so many fantastic years I was, and still am, enjoying my time. But at some stage in life you want to do something else, something new.” Regarding his departure amid a poor racing season: “I’m not leaving because I don’t like the team or individuals. I’m not running away from anything.” He continues with, “The voice inside, the hunger to do something new, was bigger.” – – BBC Sport

Daniel Ricciardo, the 24 year-old Australian who has outperformed teammate Vettel this season, will be the lead driver at Red Bull next season. The baby-faced, 20-year-old Russian driver, Daniil Kvyat will be Ricciardo’s teammate. Kvyat has performed well as a rookie at Scuderia Toro Rosso, Red Bull’s co-team, and shows good speed and consistancy. Red Bull should be a fast team next season.

As for former World Champion Fernando Alonso, he indicated that he has a plan… that’s it.

The persisting rumor is that Alonso will head to McLaren and take over as lead driver. Keep in mind: many people in the automotive world feel that Alonso is still the best out there and has many years left in the tank. If he does move to McLaren, it will completely change the balance among the teams for 2015.
