Think of the brand spakin’ new 2016 Mazda CX-3 as Mazda Miata on Stilts. OK, that maybe that’s a stretch but the two cars share Mazda’s KODO design language that makes for cute, smart, sleek and even exciting cars that look like they are moving when they are standing still.

At the Pre LA Auto Show debut, Mazda was short on specifics of the new 2016 Mazda CX-3, but we can tell you that the car in the U.S. will be powered by Mazda’s 2.0-liter Skyactiv four-cylinder engine which should put out in the neighborhood of about 150 horsepower.

In America it looks like we will only get the six-speed automatic transmission, while much of the rest of the world will get the choice of manual or automatic six-speed gearbox.

Front-wheel-drive is standard on the 2016 Mazda CX-3, but it will be offered with Mazda’s next-gen all-wheel-drive system that has active torque control allowing for better power distribution just like the current Mazda CX-5.

Brand-Spankin-NEW-FinalAnd just like the current Mazda Mazda CX-5, the new 2016 Mazda CX-3  features a driver focused interior with minimal buttons and controls.

The 2016 Mazda CX-3 and the 2016 Mazda2 share a common platform so the cabin of both cars are very similar.

The 2016 Mazda CX-3 features a pop-up like infotainment screen and a funky yet youthful white and black interior seat treatment.
