Is the Ford GT Successor Coming Back to Production and Le Mans?

It was just about a week ago that Ford announced the formation of the new Ford Performance division. The new team consists of previous SVT, Europe RS, and Ford Racing organizations. What will these speed crazy folks cook up for us next? Well, the rumor-mill is strong with the news of a Ford GT successor that will come to the 2015 Detroit Show in concept form.

The current intelligence suggests that the new performance halo car may not be called the Ford GT. What other name makes sense for such a car? The second part is that this ultra-high performance car will also give birth to World Endurance Championship race cars that will participate in the 2016 24 hours of Le Mans under the management of Chip Ganassi Racing team. This would conveniently mark the 50th anniversary of the Le Mans victory by the legendary GT40.

The timeline to get this done is very aggressive, but if anybody can pull this off – Ford can. This news can make any performance enthusiast salivate. Of course, Ford is also preparing the 2016 Focus RS for us to look at. They are on a roll.

Ford Performance future looks bright. Just look and listen to the 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350!
