Can a 2007 Porsche 911 Turbo be quicker around the TFL test track than a 2015 Jaguar F-Type Coupe R at the hands of Justin Wilson – current IndyCar racer? This was the question rattling around our brains as Justin arrived in the Porsche to another hot lap session.

Lets compare the specs. The 2007 911 Turbo is equipped with a 3.6L flat-six boxer motor. Forced induction helps it make 480 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 460 lb-ft of torque at just 1,950 rpm. Transmission is a 6-speed manual as gods of performance meant it to be. And the power goes to all four wheels. This Porsche has a curb weight of 3,494 lbs.

The 2015 Jaguar F-Type Coupe R is the current top dog with the 5.0L Supercharged V8 making 550 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 502 lb-ft of torque at 2,500 rpm. It uses a sophisticated 8-speed automatic and send power to rear wheels only. It does have to push more pounds at 3,638 pounds at the curb.

You will need to wait until the spring of 2015 for the AWD F-Type Coupe R. The Chief Program Engineer of the F-Type, Russ Varney, estimates that the AWD Coupe R is capable of 1:00 lap time around our track. We cannot wait until next year!

Back on topic – check Justing and Roman have way too much fun in the Porsche on their way to an amazing lap.
