The 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport is coming to you LIVE from Iceland at 12pm MST!
The 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport has made its debut this morning in beautiful Iceland.

At first glance, the 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport looks quite like a 2015 Range Rover Evoque, no?  Its headlamps, tail lamps, and other design accoutrement accurately reflect the baby-Rover’s general cues.  The new Disco offers a twist, however, and rides on a 107.9-inch wheelbase (versus the Evoque’s 104.8) with an available “5+2” seating configuration for greater passenger flexibility.

What remains identical between Disco and Evoque, however, is the powertrain.  The family-familiar 2.0-L turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 240 HP and 250 lb-ft of torque routes power to the ground via a nine-speed automatic transmission and standard four-wheel drive.  This is the only drivetrain offered for the 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport and, given its proven performance in the Evoque, should be quite capable.

In designing the new Disco Sport, Land Rover has prioritized customization, luxury, and off-road capability.  For the former, items such as a contrasting black or gray roof, seven wheel designs with two finishes, undershields, protective rails, mirror caps, and a “Black Pack,”  which contains a gloss-black grille, door mirror caps, front fender vents, hood and tailgate lettering and a choice of wheels, are all offered.

Furthering its luxury intentions, accessories such as headrest-mounted iPad® holders for rear-seat passengers, a center-console cooler/warmer box, and a detachable towing system and fixed-height tow bar will all be available through Land Rover dealerships.

For capability off the beaten path, an all-new multi-link rear suspension is standard, offering positive on-road handling characteristics with enhanced off-road capability.  Also standard is Land Rover’s Terrain Response system which, along with advanced technology such as Gradient Release Control (GRC) and Engine Drag Torque Control (EDC), works to ensure maximum traction in nearly any situation.

With a starting MSRP of $37,995 (including destination), the 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport offers flexibility, exclusivity, and the company’s hallmark off-road capability at a solid price point.  Expect availability by mid-2015, with other Land Rover models including the LR4’s replacement debuting shortly thereafter.
