Tossing aside its traditional white-hued livery, the new BMW M4 MotoGP Safety Car dons a sexy black color scheme for the new year.  While the freshly-debuted 2016 Ford Police Interceptor is menacing, you certainly wouldn’t want to pass this monster at speed.

BMW says its latest safety car is designed to ensure maximum driving dynamics and with its use on the racetracks of this world in mind. The BMW M4 MotoGP safety car boasts an inline-six-cylinder engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology, unleashing 431 hp and 405 lb-ft of torque across a broad RPM range.

To keep up with ridiculously high-powered cycles, though, the safety car must be able to take things a step further. Keeping this in mind, BMW’s motorsport engineers have equipped this M4’s power plant with a water-injection system, making it possible to raise the upper performance limits, which have otherwise been restricted thermally. As well as increasing performance and torque, the innovative system in the BMW M4 MotoGP Safety Car also ensures high levels of efficiency with added benefits for full-load consumption.

BMW says that, as a BMW M product at the cutting edge of technology and innovation, the BMW M4 MotoGP Safety Car also opens up possibilities for use of this technology in future production models.
