McLaren P1 GTR the Hyper Hybrid Track Car [Geneva Preview]

McLaren P1 GTR

What’s better than having a McLaren P1 in your garage? The 3.8L twin-turbo V8 hyper hybrid gets to 62 MPH in a mere 2.8 seconds and covers the quarter mile in 9.8. It has a top speed of 217 MPH and over 900 hp. So really, what could be better?

How about having a limited edition McLaren P1 GTR in your race paddock?

McLaren P1 GTR

This ridiculously awesome car will debut at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. It still features the 3.8L V8 engine, but power has gone up to a frightening 986 HP.

The GTR is track only, and is not subject to any restrictions that hinder the regular P1. Expect a light-weight chassis and F1 features, such as an ERS-style push-to-pass system (let’s call it like it is: grab the gold coin for 10 seconds of boost) and a fixed wing with a dual-drag reduction system that allows for straight line aerodynamics while still providing downforce in turns.

Here’s the catch: the GTR is only available to those who already own a P1. Those lucky guys and gals have access to the GTR on some of the best circuits in the world, as well as to driving training on McLaren simulators and consultations with the McLaren driver fitness team.

Pricing has not been announced, but it’s safe to say that if you have to ask, you can’t afford it.

Stay tuned for more information as the McLaren P1 GTR is revealed in Geneva in early March.
