Chevrolet hasn’t forgotten the small car market, as the 2016 Spark will make its debut at the New York International Auto Show.

The new Spark, which will debut on April 2, will follow the same basic premise as the current model, except Chevrolet said it will have a sleeker, more aerodynamic profile and more traditional proportions.

A teaser photo released by Chevrolet shows that the body will be larger and less truncated at the back, and the oversize grille and large headlights of the current model will be cut down to normal size.

General Motors’ smallest car in the U.S. is important to the Chevrolet brand. The company indicated the low price and youthful styling helps lure young, first-time buyers into the fold, with 26 percent of buyers under 35.

The Spark is even more important to GM’s global market. More Sparks are sold in South Korea than anywhere else, and 1.1 million have been sold worldwide. The current model is selling well in the U.S., as sales are up 32 percent in the first two months of this year compared with the same time frame in 2014.
