The Jeep Wrangler Africa Concept heads to Safari in Moab

The Jeep Wrangler Africa Concept is Jeep’s answer to expedition vehicles. It’s built to handle more gear, auxiliary fuel tanks and whatever dangers your safari may encounter. Jeep was smart by equipping a lean and torque-laden 2.8-liter diesel, a three-inch lift, Fox shocks and Dana 44 axles (front and rear) – among other goodies.

The floor and interior roof is covered in a spray-in bed-liner-like coating. Jeep freed-up the tailgate for more cargo by putting the spare tire underneath the cargo area. According to Jeep, “The Wrangler 4-door-based vehicle sports a Desert Tan exterior paint, a high-clearance steel front bumper with winch, power step rock rails, power dome vented hood and an extended rear body and high-top roof.”

You can clearly see the extended rear end which gives the Jeep Wrangler Africa more cargo capacity and enough room for a spare tire underneath. Jeep equipped the Jeep Wrangler Africa Concept with 17-inch body color steel wheels with 35-inch BF Goodrich Mud Terrain tires. This one looks production ready – no?

Jeep® Wrangler Africa ConceptIf Jeep added a snorkel, winch and a manual transmission, the Jeep Wrangler Africa Concept could give the venerable Land Rover Defender a run for its expedition money.
