Check out this heavily clad 2017 GMC Acadia prototype as it was caught high altitude testing in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. The current Acadia is a versatile and spacious three-row crossover, but it can feel dated in some interior details.
This latest prototype is hiding behind a think veil, but leaned-back windshield and a sleek roofline are visible. Also, the front grille area appears a little smaller than on the current model. This all makes sense for improved aerodynamic performance.
The current Acadia is using a 3.6-liter V6 with 288 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. The engine lineup for the next Acadia remains unclear. It is being developed along-side the next Cadillac XT5 crossover (and the Chevy Traverse), so the they may share drivetrains. Could there a 2.0-liter turbo under the hood? What about the 400 horsepower 3.0-liter turbocharged V6? This would make a great 2017 Acadia Denali.
