We’re pretty sure these photos are of the 2015 Chevrolet Aveo that’s headed for the Chinese market – among others. The Fast Lane Car has caught vehicles, slated for overseas markets, testing in the Rocky Mountains before. It’s interesting to see a vehicle, once sold in North America, return. Even if it’s just for testing.

Shanghai GM along with PATAC (Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center), which is based in Shanghai, is responsible for a completely refreshed design.

Oddly, every singly outlet on the internet (including Shanghai GM)is calling this Aveo a 2015 model, despite the fact its release will be mighty close to 2016.

It’s also kind of curious to see so many of the 2015 Chevrolet Aveo prototypes zooming around so far from home. Usually, automakers use the Rocky Mountains for high altitude, emissions, electronics and cold weather testing. Being that the Summer Solstice has passed, cold weather testing is not part of the plan. Seeing more than one foreign market car is unique.

From research done on the 2015 Chevrolet Aveo, it looks like the mechanical bits remain the same. It will have the same 96 horsepower, 1.4-liter DVVT engine and 6-speed manual gearbox as the previous model. All of the updates seem to cover the exterior design and a new interior.

Prices are expected to be a bit over 100,000 yuan (just over $16,000 U.S.).

According to Shanghai GM, the design is inspired by the newest Chevrolet design language.
What do you guys think? Do you miss the Chevrolet Aveo?
