Improve Your HEMI: Mopar Unveils Scat Packs 2 and 3 for Aftermarket Upgrades

 Mopar Dodge Challenger Drag Pak

Mopar is all about bringing back the golden age of the muscle car—in particular, the company strives to recreate the spirit of competition and individualism that grabbed many gearheads in the 1960s when it came to performance upgrades and modifications. The company has now announced that owners of vehicles equipped with the 5.7-liter HEMI® engine have a choice between Scat Packs 1, 2, and 3, each capable of extracting more fire-breathing capability from your brutish V8.

Scat Pack 1, which has been on the market for some time now, adds a cold-air intake, a cat-back exhaust upgrade, and a high-flow air filter to the HEMI system in addition to “Scat Pack 1” badging. Retailing for $3,550, Scat Pack 1 is the tamest Scat upgrade that Mopar currently offers, adding 18 horsepower and 18 lb-ft of torque to your HEMI.

Opt for Scat Pack 2 if you’d like a racier camshaft and improved tie bars, valve springs, gaskets, and pushrods on top of Scat Pack 1 upgrades. Costing a grand total of $5,445 (Scat Pack 1 price + Scat Pack 2 price), these series of upgrades can increase your HEMI’s output even as much as 56 horsepower and 30 lb-ft of torque.

Scat Pack 3 is the most drastic Scat performance upgrade that Mopar offers, boasting CNC-ported cylinder heads, high-flow manifolds and catalysts, a gasket set, exhaust manifolds, an exhaust adapter, mounting brackets, and engine hardware. Those who opt for Scat Pack 3 must also purchase Packs 1 and 2, bringing the grand total to $9,940. That’s money well-spent, however, as the addition of Scat Pack 3 can increase performance up to 75 horsepower and 44 lb-ft of torque.

It’s refreshing to see modern automakers still allowing for personal customization, and Mopar’s Scat packs will be attractive to those who want a bit of OEM extra juice. The Scat pack system allows you to find the exact level of performance that you need for competitive prices, so those looking to upgrade their HEMIs should definitely keep Mopar in mind.
