2017 Jaguar F-PACE Sneak Peek [Video]

2017 Jaguar F-PACE

The new F-PACE is Jaguar’s first high performance crossover SUV. According to Jaguar, the F-PACE will deliver more off-roading capability than many of its competitors.

Initially, the new F-Pace will borrow a couple of supercharged, 3.0-liter V-6 engines from the F-Type sports car. In base, Premium, Prestige, and R-Sport trim, it will make 340 horsepower. In S and First Edition trim, it generates 380 horsepower. A 2.0-liter, turbodiesel 4-cylinder engine will arrive after launch, providing 180 horsepower, 317 lb.-ft. of torque, and better fuel economy.

Torque-on-demand all-wheel-drive (AWD) system is standard. Under normal conditions, it powers the F-Pace’s rear wheels. When necessary, Intelligent Driveline Dynamics precisely meters delivery of up to 50% of engine power to the front wheels.

The F-Pace will take on the BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC in the premium small crossover segment, but has the benefit of a premium lightweight architecture used by Land Rover. The scalable vehicle platform is designed not only to be light but also extremely stiff. It’s also been designed to incorporate innovative efficiency technologies such as diesel, plug-in hybrid and even battery-powered electric powertrains, and it also features some pretty sophisticated chassis technology like Instinctive All-Wheel Drive and All Surface Progress Control.

Jaguar says the base price for the new F-Pace will be $42,390 and will be available in base, Premium, Prestige, R-Sport, S, and First Edition trim levels, the latter paying homage to the C-X17 Concept and offered only during the first year of production.

Watch for the new F-Pace in showrooms in the second half of 2016, as a 2017 model. For now we have this sneak peek video.
