Former Friends star Matt LeBlanc is now a Top Gear presenter.

The BBC made the announcement this morning that LeBlanc will be joining new host Chris Evans at the revamped motoring show. He is the first non-British presenter in the history of the program.

LeBlanc is most famous for his role as Joey Tribbiani, the lovable-if-a-bit-dim actor on the hit show Friends, but he also worked for the BBC on the series Episodes and he recently hosted a Top Gear spin-off show called Top Gear: The Races.

He also appeared as a guest on Top Gear and set a record as the fastest star in the reasonably priced car.

LeBlanc is joining production immediately, as Top Gear 3.0 is set to premiere in May.

Signing a star of LeBlanc’s stature is a coup for the rebooted car show that has had its difficulties recently, with reports of new host Evans getting carsick as a passenger in an Audi R8 with Sabine Schmitz, who has been rumored but not confirmed as a new presenter, and executive producer Lisa Clark resigning from the show after only five months.
