2018 Jeep Wrangler Prototype Spied: Top 10 Predictions & Rumors

A prototype for the 2018 Jeep Wrangler was recently spied by a TFLcar viewer, but now TFL’s own Nathan Adlen and Andre Smirnov were able to see it firsthand in this Prototype Hunting video.

The prototype is wearing the same body as the current version, so hints of future styling can’t been seen here, but the car does have some front cladding obscuring the grille. There is also a large exhaust canister, which hints that this mule has something different under the hood.

Speculation is that the new Wrangler will have either a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, or possibly a diesel. The car was too quiet to determine if it was indeed a diesel, but the obscured front end also points to this being a powertrain-focused prototype.

There are also more rumors about the new Wrangler, including the frame and axles, which were spotted in the spy videos. In this video, Nathan and Andre also count down the top 10 predictions and rumors surrounding the next generation of the storied Jeep. Some rumors include the increased use of aluminum and possibly a more aerodynamic shape.
