Meet the new TFL long-term Jeep Wrangler: DiffLock Episode 10 [video]

It was time to say goodbye to the old Wrangler that starred in the early episodes of DiffLock, TFL’s affordable off-roading series. Taking its place is the Jeep you see here, a 2016 Wrangler Sport S in two-door guise.

This Wrangler is a bare-bones off-roading rig but don’t be fooled- it retails for a respectable $32k. The only upgrades so far are a pair of rock rails from Mopar and a Bestop Trektop NX soft top. In the interest of full disclosure, Bestop sent us the top shown in the video in exchange for making the video. During a rainy day at the TFL offices the top passed the most important test, keeping its occupants dry.

So far the Jeep Wrangler Sport S has proven itself a worthy opponent for fairly difficult trails, like Cliffhanger 2.0, where it took on a Rubicon Hard Rock edition and a Renegade Trailhawk. In this video the Wrangler Sport goes to Montezuma, an old mining town just south of Interstate 70 in the heart of Colorado. While this was not as extreme a trail as Cliffhanger 2.0, the Jeep managed to find some deep puddles and beautiful scenery along the way. Stay tuned for more episodes of DiffLock as we continue to test the base Wrangler’s capabilities.
