A TFLcar source sent in these spy shots of a prototype crossover towing a small trailer with what looks to be a diamond-plate metal box. We believe it to be the 2018 BMW X3.
The new X3 would likely share powertrain options with the current 3-series. Sources say that the new X3 is built on BMW’s new modular CLAR (cluster architecture) architecture. This should make the X3 bigger, lighter and more advanced.
The 2018 X3 is rumored to be available later this year, presumably some time after August, when production is said to be starting.
