Coming Up on TFL: 250+ MPH Nissan GTR, 2017 Ford F-150, Toyota, Chevy, and Much More

Here is a look behind the scenes of TFLcar and TFLtruck. We are planning the month of September and there is a lot going on.

First, TFL is participating in The Colorado Mile event that takes place at the Front Range Airport, Sep 2-4th, 2016. This is a 1-mile top speed event that draws in many high-powered vehicles. We are working with TFL pro racer, Paul Gerrard, to test the top speed of our long-term 2016 Dodge Challenger Hellcat. How close can it get to the magic 200 MPH number at nearly a mile above sea level?

We are also following the “Queen” Nissan GTR by Pikes Peak Racing as they defend their title of the fastest car at The Colorado Mile, and challenge another team for the title of the fastest GTR in the USA. Last year’s record was 246.1 MPH in 1 mile. Can these guys go beyond it? It’s going to be unpredictable.

We are preparing to run the 2016 Ford Focus RS on the next episode of TFL Leaderboard Hot or Not. We think it can be faster around our test track than the 2016 VW Golf R. How much faster? We hope to find out next week.

Ford had a first drive program for the 2017 Ford F-150 in Dearborn, MI this week. Andre is flying to get the first hand-on experience with the updated truck. Why is it important? The truck is getting an all-new 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engine that is good for 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired to the 10-speed automatic transmission for the 2017 model year. This transmission will also be in the 2017 Ford Raptor.

How about a new video series on the TFLtruck channel called “Mighty Truck”? This is all about affordable and fun trucks. This is a project with a total budget of $4,000, including the vehicle. Which vehicle? We are thinking about getting a well-used Ford Ranger 2WD and making a few modifications to it in order to make it the $4,000 off-road “pre-runner” truck.  What do you think? Yay, Nay, or what else?

We are also preparing for the Midsize Truck Adventure review that involves the latest Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon, Honda Ridgeline, Nissan Frontier, and Toyota Tacoma. This is about getting all the midsize pickups together at the same time, and driving them to the top of a 14,000 foot Colorado mountain.

Nathan and Andre are going to a first drive Toyota event in California for an opportunity to drive the 2017 Toyota Prius Prime, 2017 Toyota 86 and many more 2017 cars.

Roman is going to a VW Full Line drive event to sample all the latest vehicles from Volkswagen. Will unveil something new at the event? We will have to wait and see.

Roman is also going to Chicago for an unveiling of a new Chevrolet. Chevy would not say which vehicle they are unveiling, so this is another secret.

Finally, the guys are going to the 2016 State Fair of Texas for new truck unveils and to launch our new book: Truck Nuts – TFLtruck’s Guide to Pickup Trucks.  The book is already available for pre-order, and it will launch on Sep 27th, 2016.

You can pre-order the Truck Nuts Book here:

These are the main highlights for the month of September. We will also be testing over cars and trucks! Thanks for watching and following TFLcar and TFLtruck. We are very excited about what’s coming up!
