Is This a Production-Ready 2017 Ford GT Testing in the Wild? [Spied]

Check out these photos of, what we think is a production-ready Ford GT testing where everyone can see. To say fans are chomping at the bit for this car to go into production is an understatement. The 2017 Ford GT is supposed to have an annual run of 250 units. That’s a very small amount given its reception.

Remember, Chip Ganassi Racing is running a few factory sponsored Ford GTs. Two of them are in the FIA World Endurance Championship racing in the GTE Pro class. Two other factory sponsored/backed Ford GTs are running in the United SportsCar Championship in the GTLM class. Chances are, you’ve seen what this vehicle looks like and how it performs on the track. Still, seeing a (possible) production-ready Ford GT in person is pretty exciting.

One of our fans caught these two Ford GT cars in the wild, thank you Garrett K! The first white car with blue stripes appears production ready and true to its original concept ford that we first saw at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. The second car is a less finished prototype.

Being that the body and many internal components are made from carbon fibre, this Ford will be extremely light, they even used plexiglass-like glass (“Gorilla Glass” by Corning) that is super light weight over regular safety glass.

The bottom line question here is, are we looking at a production-ready Ford GT?

What do you think?

Here is the car from the 2015 Chicago Auto Show.
