The Force is Strong with this One: Nissan introduces the 2017 Rogue: Rogue One Star Wars Limited Edition [Updated w/Video]

Never before has there been a production vehicle that featured the Star Wars brand name. Until now, that is. Introducing the 2017 Nissan Rogue: Rogue One Star Wars Limited Edition.

If you were like me, and Star Wars was a major facet of your childhood, you probably already know that there is a new Star Wars film coming out December 16th, 2016. The film is called Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, so it is no surprise that Nissan was chosen as one of five global brands partnering with Lucasfilm Ltd. to launch an extensive global ad campaign in support of the new film, given that one of their vehicles is called the Rogue.

Nissan plans to make just 5,400 of this unique limited edition vehicle. Aesthetic modifications are fairly simple. You get a choice of either Glacier White or Magnetic Black for paint. Some body trim is black, there are some neat Star Wars logos, and you get a special badge on the door that proves you do indeed drive a Star Wars special edition Nissan Rogue. While it may come off as somewhat gimmicky, there are some neat aesthetic touches on the inside of the car that are pretty cool.

There are three that stand out in particular: Limited Edition logo carpeted floor mats, Star Wars logo illuminated kick plates, and of course “Rebel Alliance” and “Galactic Empire” logos on the cupholder inserts.

Mechanically speaking, you are just buying another Nissan Rogue, which means you get a choice of FWD or AWD, paired with Nissan’s Xtronic CVT transmission, all of which is powered by a 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder rated at 170 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque.

In addition to the car, you also get a full-size replica Death Trooper helmet, so you can feel like a member of the Empire while dropping your kids off at sports practice. Which, if I’m honest, sounds pretty hilarious. In total, this package will cost an additional $1,990, and is only available on 2017 Rogue SV with the Sun and Sound Touring Packages equipped.
