I’ll start out with the things about the show that I do like. The best part about this show is exactly what made Top Gear so good as well: the presenting trio. The guys are back together and they still have all the charm and chemistry that made them great in the first place. Their sometimes slapstick and sometimes serious style is the right recipe for making good, funny television. They certainly haven’t lost that.
I love the cinematography. Much like Top Gear, The Grand Tour uses the show’s absolutely massive budget on very high quality cinematography. The shots are beautiful and well thought out. One other thing that I am particularly fond of is the tent idea itself. I think it is very cool to see the show travel around the globe, exploring new locations. It fits the show’s theme. It is the perfect twist to help differentiate the new show from the old.
However, there are some gripes I have with the show.
