The Jeep Renegade is the most popular subcompact crossover vehicle for 2016.
Jeep sold 106,606 Renegades in 2016, which was the highest subcompact crossover sales among its competitors, sales figures showed. The Jeep Renegade also sold the most in December with 12,045 vehicles.
The other subcompact crossovers that were in the top five in terms of sales for December were the Subaru Crosstrek with 10,229, the Honda HR-V with 9,034, the Chevrolet Trax with 8,007 and the Buick Encore with 7,755, sales figures showed.
When looking at sales figures for December 2015 and December 2016, the Honda HR-V saw a 90.7 percent increase in sales. The other vehicles that were in the top five list for December also saw a double-digit increase when comparing the two months. The Trax saw a 50.4 percent increase, Renegade a 39 percent increase, the Crosstrek a 26.4 percent increase and the Encore a 19.3 percent increase.
When looking at sales figures for 2015 and 2016, the Mazda CX-3 saw a triple-digit increase of 190.6 percent, and was the only vehicle in that segment to see such an increase, sales figures showed.
There were several vehicles that saw a double-digit increase when looking at figures from 2015 and 2016. Those were the HR-V with 95.5 percent, the Renegade with 75 percent, the Trax with 25.4 percent and the Encore with 16.3 percent.
Some vehicles saw a double-digit decrease when comparing those two years. Those included the Nissan Juke with 27.8 percent, the MINI Countryman with 23.9 percent and the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport with 10.5 percent, sales figures showed.
