Dodge recently announced the upcoming 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, which is supposed to make the “regular” Hellcat seem like a pussy cat. The Demon version of the car will use a boosted version of the Supercharged HEMI also found in current Hellcat Challengers and Chargers. Dodge said that the car will make its official debut at the 2017 New York Auto Show in April, 2017.

There is a new report from Mopar Connection Magazine that suggests some jaw-dropping information, according to their sources. This report suggests that the 2018 Hellcat Demon will produce in the neighborhood of 850-900 horsepower! Yikes! Thankfully, the Demon is also reported to have a wider tire. The report suggests that the Challenger, which is featured in the Fast & Furious 8 movie trailer (see silver car in the screenshot above) is in fact a version of the Challenger Demon ADR. Notice the wide-body fenders that hide the wider tires (reportedly: 18” x 11” 315-series tires). ADR stands for “American Drag Racer” and features the wide wheel flares and the wider tires.

Here is our long-term 2016 Dodge Challenger Hellcat on the Colorado 1-Mile Top Speed challenge.  The Demon HEMI will surely provide the extra oomph to get a higher speed.
