2018 Hyundai Elantra GT and Sport: Hyundai Aims for VW Golf and Honda Civic Buyers

The 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT and Sport are two new hatchbacks that will directly compete with both the Honda Civic and VW Golf when they hit dealership floors this summer. Both new cars come from Hyundai’s European division where the car is called the Hyundai i30. In America there will be two versions of the car with two different engine options.

The 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT will come standard with a manual transmission and a base four-cylinder that displaces 2.0 liters and produces 162 HP. A six-speed automatic transmission will be optional.

The more interesting of the two new cars is the 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT that comes paired to a turbocharged 1.6-liter four that makes 201 horses and 195 lb-ft of torque. The GT also comes with standard with a manual 6-speed transmission, but you’ll be able to get a seven-speed dual-clutch unit as well.

There are even more go fast parts on the 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT as Roman found out recently at the Chicago Auto Show when he got up close and personal with both cars in this TFL everything you ever wanted to know video.
