The 2018 Buick Enclave is returning to the market completely re-engineered to compete in one of the most competitive segments in the automotive industry. Vehicles from the Ford Explorer and Toyota Highlander to the Volvo XC90 and Audi Q7 compete in this bracket. Andre interviewed Jace Stokes, Marketing Product Manage for Buick Enclave on the floor of the 2017 New York Auto Show.
Buick managed to remove about 350 lbs of weight from the Enclave. Considering it has lots of cowhide and a bevvy of new, high-tech accessories added to the infotainment system, it’s hard to tell how they removed so much weight. The three-row 2018 Buick Enclave is larger inside (stretched nearly three inches at the wheelbase – interior space is 10-percent larger), lighter, more efficient and now comes with a top level trim called Avenir.
The Avenir trim level is the Buick equivalent to GMC’s Denali trim level.
The 2017 Buick Enclave has an all-new 302 horsepower, 3.6-liter V6 that makes 260 lbs-feet of torque. It has a new nine-speed automatic transmission and it comes in front or all-wheel drive. With an optional tow package, the 2017 Buick Enclave can tow up to 5,000 lbs.
Pricing and EPA MPG ratings are not available yet, but the 2018 Buick Enclave goes on sale later in 2017. Buick says the 2018 Enclave is the first vehicle in Buick’s lineup to (officially) wear the Avenir badge.
