What the what?! We compare a 2017 Infiniti Q70L vs 2017 Dodge Challenger Hellcat

The idea of comparing a 2017 Infiniti Q70L vs a 2017 Dodge Challenger Hellcat may seem unusual, but this is a TFLcar “mash-up.” A TFLcar mash-up is where we take two cars that don’t exactly compete and find some common ground (in this case, they priced at about $67,000).

The 2017 Infiniti Q70L has a 416 horsepower, 5.6-liter V8 that makes 424 lbs-feet of torque. It is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels. It is an extremely smooth setup with an excess of power ready as if it was spring-loaded. Overall handling is excellent and, given its extra length (hence the “L”), highway ride is supremely good.

Despite its excellent power, it’s (obviously) no match for the 2017 Dodge Challenger Hellcat.

Where the 2017 Infiniti Q70L is smooth and sophisticated, the 2017 Dodge Challenger Hellcat is loud and aggressive. With a maximum of 707 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque screaming through an eight-speed automatic transmission (a six-speed manual is available) powering the rear wheels, adhesion is a major issue. Surprisingly, the 2017 Dodge Challenger Hellcat has a good overall ride, especially for something this fast.

Both vehicles represent aspirational rides, but in completely different ways.
