TFL’s Pontiac Aztek Races the Cops and Gets Busted [Video]

Our 2001 Pontiac Aztek Hits the 1/4-mile at Bandimere Speedway

It only has close to 200,000 miles on its 3.4-liter V6. It’s racing at more than a mile above sea level with 18 percent less oxygen available to power the engine. And it was originally supposed to be a badass 4×4 truck-based alternative to GM’s Hummer, not a muscle car. But the Aztek does have AWD. And TFL’s crack dragster pilot Andre behind the wheel. Can he hit 70 mph and beat 20 seconds?

See how he does as our Aztek competes against a modified Mustang 5.0, a VW Beetle with an insane 200-plus horsepower air-cooled engine, and a Colorado Highway Patrol Chevy Tahoe. Andre may have had his hands full trying to outrun the police on the drag strip. But he still ended up busted.

Watch the video to find out why.

And if you want to see how our Aztek does off-road (hint: it does a lot better than it does on the track), check out Nathan and Andre’s Gold Mine Hill adventure in the Pontiac. Can it clear the crux section of the trail?
