And so the dominoes have started to fall. First Volvo announced that by the 2019 model year, all their vehicles would have some sort of electric-powered component. Today, Land Rover and Jaguar followed. According to the British car maker (owned by India’s Tata Group), after 2020 all their vehicles will either be pure EVs or plug-in hybrids.

The first big launch toward this new directive is next year’s release of the Jaguar I-Pace, an electric four door SUV with all-wheel drive. Jaguar claims a 4-second 0-60 time thanks to 516 lb-ft. of torque and 400 hp. Range is 220 miles. In other words, the I-Pace will offer buyers an alternative to the Tesla Model X.

This news begs the question: What manufacturer will be next to commit to going electric? Or even better, what car company going electric would make you believe the end of the world is upon us? Put your guesses in the comments below.

    1. This is really good news. And its actually news and not propaganda like a new camera or we upped the power a bit and saved an mpg. Vehicles were becoming absolutely dreadful. Thank the stars for Tesla and its demand for something better.

And thanks to all those Tesla owners, you are true pioneers, if I didnt need a truck I would onboard with you all. Hopefully that comes soon.

      1. But Rambro, according to so many on these comment sections, this is actually not happening. All these articles are a figment of our imagination.

    2. I can see the all electric/hybrid thing working for Volvo because of their customer base. However, Land Rover and Jaguar will commit brand suicide by doing it.
But hey, committing suicide is all the rage. Western Europe is killing itself by importing its enemies.

    3. Once people start plugging in cars in their homes overnight and having a full tank every morning, they will see the light. Love the fact that we didn’t have to worry about the gas shortage last week in Texas.

    4. Yeah just the fact the electric was out for a week that makes since idiot long drives and fun loud drives gas is king. tree huggers go buy your own island and drive their and eat your salads not trying to be mean but nothing worse then people forcing things on other people like crappy and un- exhilarating driving experiences vroom vroom over pahhhhh any day
